New Year ≠ New Me

As the year is coming to a close, there tends to be a trend of “reflection” and goal-setting for the incoming year. You know the catchy slogan- “new year, new me,” with the thought that at 12:01a on January 1, life will begin to change. The question worth asking is “…how will it change?” What do I need to do differently to see the changes I dream about? Simply naming a “new year’s resolution” cannot resolve my past and position me to achieve what I want my life to look and be like in the upcoming months of 2023. What do I need to do for my beliefs and behaviors to match the frequency of my future story?

Have you thought about this next chapter, 2023? What do you want to change? What do you want to experience more of? Have you thought about your future story for 2023? With those questions in mind, where do your beliefs and behaviors land as it pertains to 2023 unfolding in the direction of your vision? It’s important to take time to reflect on your beliefs and behaviors, without judgment, to assess and ensure you attain your goals, in this next chapter.

My belief and behavior must be congruent and in alignment with where I see myself. What do I believe about myself? What do I believe about my ability? The decisions I make now have a direct impact on my tomorrow. I want my decisions of today to be at a frequency that signals the new timeline stating that I’m ready; I’m ready to change, and I am ready for what I’ve been dreaming about to come into my life. What we dream about can happen as fast as we believe it; however, often there’s a disconnect somewhere either in our belief where we don’t truly believe it can happen or we don’t believe we’re deserving of it.

There are times in life when we want to make the changes necessary. However, we don’t have the will that matches that desire, and we find ourselves falling short of the changes we want and need to make. So the question is what do we need for us to make the changes? The images below describe how change happens in life. There are three ways change happens… by chance, circumstances, or choice. Making a conscious decision to change is where we hold and harness our power; it comes from within and is exerted throughout the world the other two are responses to external factors.

This is where honesty can be transformative in the direction that we want to go. I must be honest with myself about where I am and not deceive myself or buy into my ideal self. Reviewing the stages of change helps me understand where I am in my efforts of changing. If I am in a particular stage, I ask myself what I need for me to move on to the next stage. This question is vital to my movement forward in change. Here it is the end of the year and we want to make changes going into the new year. I have to understand where I’m at for me to move forward and where I’m going and I want that driving force to come from within.

This new year holds the soil for there to be a new me but I must toil the soil, planting new seeds and uprooting seeds where I feel destiny has been stalled. Destiny is waiting on me to align and change. It is important that you affirm that you are more than capable of attaining what you want in life. We have to ensure our beliefs and behaviors match the frequency of our vision.

Happy New Year/You!
